Joypolis

This is one of the on-location leisure series brought to you by Sega Corporation, an international video game software and hardware developing company. The theme park was instated in Yokohama on July 20, 1994 with joy rides and pergola or arcade games based on SEGA IP. Since then, it has also been branched in Osaka and Tokyo.

Inside Joypolis is what every day tripper would expect: video games, arcade games, the Sonic Bowl etc. Next to the last mentioned spot is a bill calling for Karaoke, or as this place would have it, “Segakara”. The arena measures 11,946 sq. meters with more than 8000 sq. meters of it dedicated to the idea park and 7 major attractions that include a refurbished Virtua Racing that has been renamed Virtua Formula and 217 coin-operated arcades, rides and redemption machines.

The Virtua Formula is the inaugurating draw of the place which requires 8 players, each furnished with a full-sized Formula 1 cockpit and 80 inch screens. The fixture is situated in one big area with 32 machines in operation. Based on the Sega Arcade Game, is the Rail Chase Ride, an interactive roller-coaster where players shoot at targets as they ride. In the Ghost Hunters, the audience display ghost targets in a dark arena using mirror and 3D technology. An indoor bumper car ride, the Mad Bazooka, is sure to stimulate the adrenalin rush by having two teams of 6 players each fire rubber balls through the canons. These balls are picked up by the cars themselves.

Check out the Astronomicon, which is astrology based interactive theater accommodating 50. It can also predict your fortune as also calculate your horoscope. Leap around stimulator rides, like the full circle AS-1 and the VR-1 Space Mission, network with flicks, hi-tech delight, not to mention the slew of arcade games.
